  • Providing technical support and collaborating with student, faculty, and staff with GIS related projects and research

  • Using, storing and checking out remote sensing equipment such as various grades of GPS and total stations and exporting data for use in ArcGIS

  • Surveyed the campus and hiking trails using a total station, mapping grade and recreational grade GPS.

  • Geospatial analysis of Landsat images on QGIS looking at rift propagation on the Ross Ice Shelf, Antarctica

  • Worked with MODIS data

 

Research Assistant, Dickinson College, Carlisle PA | 2016 - 2017

 

  • Analyzed archeological samples under the Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) after being carbon coated and used the Energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) to check whether they were turquoise.

  • Published in the acknowledgments: Hedquist, S.L., Thibodeau, A.M., Welch, J.R.,Killick, D.J., Canyon (2017) Creek revisited: New investigations of a late prehispanic turquoise mine, Arizona, USA, Journal of Archaeological Science, v:87, p:44-58.

 

Summer Field Experience, Baffin and Bylot Islands, Nunavut, Canada | 2016 - 2017

 

  • Looked at the regional geology and water chemistry

  • Took measurements to test the thickness of the ice sheet along with changes in pH, EC, and temperature

  • Used a hydrophone and experienced the unique Arctic wildlife such as bowhead whale, narwhal and seal song

  • Interacted with the Inuit community, understanding their concerns about the Arctic

  • Supervisor for seven rock climbing wall monitors

  • Training new wall monitors how to teach bouldering, top rope and lead according to CWI standards set by the AMGA

  • Scheduling work, meetings, creating policies for the wall in accordance with other climbing gyms
